Help articles
How to request HGV roadside help safely
Make the scene safe, capture the right fault details and avoid the location mistakes that delay a commercial-vehicle response.
Sharing an accurate HGV breakdown location
A postcode is rarely enough on a motorway or logistics park. Send a location a heavy service vehicle can actually use.
Understanding roadside call-out pricing
Questions to ask before dispatch about call-out, travel, labour, parts, recovery mileage, VAT and cancellation.
HGV247 provider verification explained
What a badge can mean, what it does not guarantee and why fleets still perform their own supplier checks.
Create a provider profile that drivers can trust
Use a real base, specific capabilities, current hours and evidence-led copy—without keyword stuffing or invented coverage.
Manage your HGV247 availability and service radius
Keep emergency search useful by reflecting who can answer, what equipment is ready and how far you can realistically travel.
Protect personal and cargo data in a breakdown
Share enough to arrange safe assistance without exposing delivery records, private contacts or sensitive cargo details.
Report a listing, review or safety concern
Preserve evidence, choose the right report category and understand when to contact police, an insurer or a regulator instead.

Contact HGV247About HGV247
What is HGV247?
HGV247 is a UK discovery and enquiry platform for independent HGV workshops, mobile mechanics and specialist commercial-vehicle providers. HGV247 does not itself repair or recover vehicles.
Is HGV247 free for drivers and fleets to search?
Yes. Searching and sending a standard request does not require a consumer subscription. A provider charges separately for any attendance or work you agree.
Does HGV247 operate recovery trucks or employ the mechanics?
No. Listed providers are independent businesses. Confirm the provider's identity, availability, ETA, terms and price before instructing them.
Emergency safety
What should I do if the vehicle is in a live lane?
Treat it as an emergency. Follow your operator procedure and the relevant road authority's instructions; use 999 if there is immediate danger. Do not arrange or attempt a roadside repair where traffic makes the scene unsafe.
Is HGV247 an emergency service?
No. Call 999 for immediate risk to life, fire, collision or other emergency. On motorways and trunk roads, follow police and road-operator instructions.
Requesting help
What location information should I provide?
Give the road, direction, nearest junction or marker, a reliable map pin and the safest access point. A postcode alone is often not enough for a motorway or large logistics park.
What vehicle details help a provider respond?
Registration, make, model, body or trailer type, axle configuration, load status and approximate gross weight. Add exact warnings, noises, leaks and what happened immediately before the stop.
Should I upload photos?
Only from a safe position. A dashboard warning, tyre sidewall, damaged component or wide scene photo can help, but remove faces, personal documents, customer labels and sensitive cargo information.
Does HGV247 guarantee an arrival time?
No. Availability and ETA are stated by the provider and can change with traffic, weather, earlier emergencies, parts and road-authority controls.
Prices and payment
Who sets the call-out price?
The independent provider does. Ask for the call-out basis, travel, labour, parts, recovery mileage, VAT and cancellation terms before authorising dispatch where circumstances allow.
Can I cancel an attendance?
Tell the provider immediately. Their accepted terms determine travel or cancellation charges. Closing an HGV247 request does not automatically cancel a provider you contacted separately.
Accounts
Do I need an account during an emergency?
The core emergency search is intended to work without a paid account. An account can make it easier to track requests and save fleet details, but must not block access to safety information.
After a job
How do I raise a concern about a provider?
First preserve the quote, messages, invoice and evidence, then contact the provider. You can also report a listing to HGV247 for platform review; this does not replace legal, insurer or regulatory routes.
Fleet use
Can a transport office compare several providers?
Yes for planned or non-urgent work. For an active roadside incident, avoid sending multiple providers unless you have explicitly cancelled the others and understand any charges.
Does a verified badge replace our supplier checks?
No. Verification is a defined platform evidence check, not a warranty of every service. Fleets should assess competence, insurance, financial terms and compliance for their own use case.
Does HGV247 become our maintenance record system?
No. Keep statutory inspection, defect, repair, invoice and authorisation records in the operator's controlled maintenance system.
Privacy
Should we put customer or cargo data in a request?
Share only what is necessary for safe attendance. Do not include delivery documents, personal data, security codes or commercially sensitive cargo details in a public or widely distributed description.
How long is request information kept?
Retention depends on the purpose, legal need and account status. The live privacy notice explains current periods and deletion rights; unnecessary precise location data should be removed promptly.
Provider membership
What does a provider listing cost?
Every new listing gets 12 months of free access from the day it goes live, with no card needed. After that, membership is £10 per month plus any applicable VAT, shown at checkout with the billing interval and cancellation terms. Providers who do not subscribe when the free period ends stop receiving requests until they do.
Is there a long contract?
The intended launch plan is month-to-month. The live checkout and provider terms are authoritative; cancel before the next renewal in line with those terms.
Does membership guarantee leads or revenue?
No. Search visibility and enquiries depend on coverage, demand, profile quality, availability and competition. HGV247 must not promise rankings, leads or earnings.
Verification
How does provider verification work?
HGV247 may ask for business identity, contact, insurance and capability evidence. The exact checks and badge meaning are published in the verification policy and can expire or be withdrawn.
Provider listings
How are search results ranked?
Results can consider service match, distance, declared availability, verification, profile completeness and quality signals. Paid membership should not secretly override emergency relevance; sponsored placement must be labelled.
Can I switch my availability off?
Yes. Keep availability and service radius accurate so drivers do not waste time. HGV247 may reduce visibility where repeated requests go unanswered.
Can I list more than one workshop or coverage area?
Use a real staffed base for each location and an honest mobile radius. Duplicate or doorway pages created only to rank in towns where the business has no genuine coverage are not allowed.
Reviews
Can providers ask customers for reviews?
Yes, if the request is neutral and linked to a genuine interaction. Incentivised, fabricated, selectively gated or staff-written reviews are prohibited.
Coverage
Does HGV247 cover the whole UK?
The platform is designed for UK-wide discovery, but actual provider density and availability vary by place and time. Search results must be transparent when no suitable provider is currently listed.
Accessibility
Can I get help using the website?
Contact support if a disability or access need prevents you using a feature. Emergency and provider contact information should remain operable with keyboard, screen reader and text zoom.
Trust and safety
How do I report a false listing or unsafe claim?
Use the report action on the listing or email support with the profile URL and evidence. Do not publish personal documents or allegations in a public review.
